History & Vision

Our Foundations

For more than 100 years, Carson Simpson Farm Christian Camp has been a destination where children can come and spread out in open space, enjoy outdoor recreation, and connect with God. 

On April 14, 1919, Judge Alexander and Ella Simpson donated 65 acres of land to the Philadelphia Missionary Society. The sale was for one dollar, and it included a requirement to use the land to serve underprivileged children, working girls, and the wives and daughters of ministers. Today, we continue to expand this ministry and include orphans and children from inner-city churches. The property is currently owned by Metro Ministries, Inc., and operated by Carson Simpson Farm Christian Camp.

The camp property looks very different today than it did in 1919, though we keep some of our history with us. The original 1790 farmhouse still stands on the property and houses the camp’s office and the Camp Director’s home. The dormitories and dining hall were built in the 1920s, and most of the pavilions were constructed in the 1930s. All of the buildings and pavilions have seen significant renovations since then, but they remain in the same location and serve the same functions as when they were built. 

Over the years, Carson Simpson Farm has grown to utilize every inch of space for ministry and recreation. We’ve added an olympic-sized swimming pool, athletic fields and courts, archery, slingshots, playgrounds, and additional buildings. Each program or facility we add all work to fulfill our original mission, vision, and calling.

Our Mission: To glorify God and show the love of Christ to children.

Our Vision: That the children are convinced of God’s love for them and each staff member puts Christ first in their lives and reflects Christ’s love in all they do.

Our Values: Faith, community, and safety.

Our Goals

In addition to achieving our mission and vision, we have three primary goals we want to achieve with each interaction:

Goal 1: To achieve parent and camper satisfaction

Goal 2: To be an environment that provides spiritual, physical, and emotional safety

Goal 3: To be a community of acceptance and equality.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19)
